My Hopes and Expectations for Students
Learning to play the piano can help children develop academic, physical, and social skills. It raises self-esteem and refines discipline and patience. All this while learning a life-long skill! (Read the full article here!)
My goal is for my students to develop a love of music and to continue to create music throughout their lives. In order to foster this love of music, students will need to practice at home on a piano. At a minimum, students should have access to a full size keyboard with 88 weighted and touch sensitive keys, but there is no substitute for an acoustic piano.
It is important to make learning to play an enjoyable experience, and parents play a large role in setting the tone of learning this discipline. One positive way to encourage home practice is to have students set aside much-loved activities until after music practice has been done for the day. By saving video games, novels, comic books, etc. until after music practice has been done, not only do these activities motivate students to practice, but they reinforce the practicing, making it all the more enjoyable in the long run.

My Teaching Schedule
I have scheduled 32 weeks of lessons, with six days for making up lessons that have to be missed. Your monthly tuition reserves a block of my time that is set aside specifically for you. If students do have to miss and notify me in advance, I can let others know that the time is open for make up lessons. If everyone is so thoughtful, the hope is that every student can make it to 32 lessons throughout the academic year.
