Mend Me

With its poignant melody, a counter-melody filled with longing, and lush harmonies, this easy-to-learn piece will make your choir sound amazing regardless of size.  An incredibly expressive sound created with limited vocal range, this piece works well for choir members both young and old.

The text, included below, is a prayer for healing filled with the longing to see with the eyes of Christ, to see the good in others.

Beautiful with just two voices, the SATB voicing adds richness to the simple melody.  The bass part is mirrored in the keyboard part while the tenor part has middle C as its highest note, so if need be this voicing also sounds lovely with SAB choir.

The accompaniment is also versatile, easily played on either organ or piano.

Let the storms above pour over me and fill me with your holiness.

Open my mind to meet the spark of Divine within the rude and unrefined.
Open my life to greet the stranger as friend
despite my tending to condemn.
Despite the hardness of my heart.
Beyond the barriers that I neatly groom
to keep us all apart.
